4 More For 44

Whitehouse.gov is a landmark change in Presidential politics and national engagement.  I have long stated that WEB 2.0 tools allows us an unprecedented level of access to our elected leaders, whereby we can hold them accountable and keep them responsible.  In the Internet age, we can see it instantly, tell the world, motivate the people, align a recall and get an offending leader out of office in record time.

I voted for President Barack Obama in 2008 because I knew he believed that greater exposure to the workings of government was absolutely necessary.  A government of the people did have a need to keep some secrets from the people, but government by the people did not have the authority to close the door on all activities, but rather had a responsibility to ensure the people understood what their government was doing, and should make it their mission to provide information that supported such a mandate.
Whitehouse.gov is a window into the Obama administration, and provides real metrics on performance, links to vital data, and the relevant details necessary to maintain accountability.  We are already taking this effort for granted and the majority of Americans not only neglect to use it, but don’t even know it exists. However, the fact that they don’t know it’s there is simply another issue we need to address.
Visit Whitehouse.gov today.  Peruse the information that’s provided.  Assess it for yourself.  Use critical thinking skills in order to gain understanding.  Allow vitriol and punditry to be set aside, and simply think about what’s being provided.  Judge it for yourself, but more than anything else, spread the word and ensure that no matter who is in the White House, the accessibility not only remains in place, but expands.  I voted for President Obama because he saw the need for this level of accessibility, championed it, and led his team to make it a reality.  Yes, this is change I believe in.
