Earl Small was a man who spent every day driving his life with enthusiasm, passion and conviction.  When we heard the esophageal cancer diagnosis in June of 2007, he faced it with the same qualities he lived by.  The battle was fought bravely, and with optimism.  The shocking part of his illness, however, was that neither one of us had ever heard of this cancer, and looking back, several of the signs and symptoms were apparent.

One of the things I can do to save someone else from hearing the horrible words ‘esophageal cancer’ is to tell anyone and everyone that this cancer is real, on the rise and deadly.

If you or someone you know has difficulty swallowing, feels like food is getting caught, or stuck in their throat, has hoarseness in their voice, persistent cough, possible sudden weight loss, please talk to a doctor.  Acid reflux is a leading cause of esophageal cancer, however, drinking very hot liquids, alcohol consumption, being overweight, and using tobacco products are also contributing factors.

Twenty seven years of my life were spent watching Earl be an awesome husband, son, father and businessman.  Earl built a world around motorcycling, flying, sailing, friendship and above all loving life and people.

Please join us Saturday, August 18th, 2012 at Harley Davidson of Cartersville for the Let’s Remember Earl Memorial Concert. Help me honor him by preventing this cancer from being diagnosed too little and too late.

Thank you for all your support
