Understanding SPF
Our natural zinc and titanium sunscreens are meant to reflect ultra violet rays before they penetrate the skin. Unlike chemical sunscreens, they offer protection against both UVA/UVB sunlight. Most sunscreens only protect against UVB. Our maximum SPF’s (15 & 25) will protect better than chemical sunscreens with much higher SPF numbers. UVA light penetrates deeply into the skin and is most responsible for long-term skin damage. Some researchers think UVA may be the main culprit for some of the worse types of skin cancer as well. UVB light does not penetrate deeply and is most responsible for tanning and burning. .
